Name: Global Writer's Workshops Features: Writing Courses , Workshops Location: Saint Louis-based Description: This meetup is dedicated to those writers of all genres who crave a 'change of scene' in order to stimulate their creative processes. Several times a year, intense workshops for writers are held in unique and exotic locales that will both inspire and amaze. Workshops are taught by a series of guest authors - the top of their fields - who will channel their vast experiences, artistic talent and dynamic teaching styles through to small groups of creative individuals in intense and extremely productive workshops. Workshops are held in various exotic locales around the globe: the creative artists will have plenty of opportunity to explore the local scenery, get a lot of exercise, sample the local cuisine, and make new friends in-between their designated writing sessions. These global workshops are considered 'low residency' for those MFA students who are interested in extra-credit hours that may count towards their individual university degrees (with university approval) upon completion of the sessions. They are also a wonderful resource for those writers who are already established in their genre but find themselves needing a little extra motivation. This is a great group for writers to learn from each other as well as give themselves a creative kick-start or inspirational boot while enjoying the lush scenery and magical sites of some very unique places! |

Name: Publishers Cup Inc Group Contents:Poems Features: Contest Description: Poets are invited to submit a poem celebrating an aspect of life in and around the game and sport of cricket, in settings of backyard cricket, beach cricket, club cricket or social cricket. The genre may be narrative, epic, dramatic, satirical, lyrical, elegy or verse fable no longer than 150 words. Our history and sense of identity are linked to cricket and our social interactions are often complimented with some form of the game, at the beach, in the park, in the backyard or on the cricket field. With 1st prize of $2000, the Cricket Poetry Award will be run in conjunction and correlate with the Cricket Art Prize, and the winner will be announced at the inaugural Cricket Art Prize opening event at the Members Pavilion of the SCG on Thursday 8th Oct 2009.
